On Sunday night, a group of friends and I went out for dinner at the Zen Kitchen. I'm not sure how long this restaurant has been in Ottawa, but it just earned the title of my favourite restaurant. And the food is vegan. Yes.
Before I get into how great the food is, I just want to give a bit of background about how great my friends are. This particular group of friends and I have been going on regular outings for the past 15 years or so. Since I finally made the switch to vegan, they suggested we find a place that would have options for me. And this is SO appreciated. The hardest thing I find in switching to a vegan diet is eating out. I have no problems at home because I can make pretty much anything vegan. But most/some restaurants have limited options. The best places for me so far are restaurants that serve Asian cuisine or that are specifically vegetarian/vegan friendly.
In this case, the Zen Kitchen is not only friendly, it's serves fully vegan meals. In a beautiful setting, with an eclectic ambiance and lovely live jazz music.
