An update

I can't believe I haven't blogged in a week.  I am sorry.  Really, I am.  I'm sorry to my readers but also to myself.  Writing keeps me sane and keeps my need for creativity satisfied when I don't have time to get down and dirty in my art room.

Note: There will be a vegan Tuesday later today, but first I want to update on what I've been up to during the past week.

I started my 2nd semester of translation and it's much busier than the first one. (Because of the program I'm in, I started in the 3rd year.  So technically, I'm in my 2nd semester of my 3rd year.)  The course content has a lot more theory/reading and less hands-on translations.  So I've spent a lot of time in the past two weeks adjusting to my new schedule.  Let me be clear here, this is not a complaint...  I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to be back in school.  Especially after having been in the work place for 8 years...   What a friggen treat.  To read, to learn, to think and to do what I love: play with words and dictionaries.

I have a feeling I won't be blogging every day because of the amount of work and brain power that is required for this semester.  But I want to commit to (at least) two weekly posts: Vegan Tuesday and Therapy Thursday.  I always have a new recipe going so this is easy (and fun!) and therapy (thriving to become a better version of myself) is something I do every day.  I always have something to say about that.

Talking about food and thriving to better myself, I'd like to report that I have maintained my juicing and smoothie resolution from my January Health Challenge.  I haven't, however, maintained anything else.  I have "improved" in those departments.  That's it.  Which is fine with me.  The juicing in itself is a happy and healthy change.

This past weekend, I cooked for 23 people!!!!  Yes!  Well, I learned from the best (my mother) who always cooked/cooks for big groups.  We hosted one of my group of friends (we call ourselves "the yummy mommies" hehe) and it was such a fun time.
This group of friends holds a special place in my heart because we all met when we were very young mothers.  Our city had meeting/support groups for young mothers and that's where we all met there.  We also all attended the same university...which is quite the coincidence.
 Yummy mommies at my wedding
We've maintained our friendships all these years... have witnessed our kids grow up, have supported each other with the challenges of being young single mothers, getting university degrees, get married, etc.  Soon, some of our kids will be going to university themselves...  and some of us have not even reached 35 years old!
My son (14) and I at my wedding. Awww....!

Anyway, it was quite something to have everyone over in our little home for a big meal, but we had a great time with a full house with their partners and kids.

Husband update?  Well, we are STILL working on choosing our photos from our wedding... **sigh**  It's just so hard.  We will be married 6 months of February 4, and I'm hoping to convince him to go to Montreal for an overnight stay.  Realistically though, he's the voice of reason and has hinted that we can't afford it.  Perhaps we could go just for the day and visit our friends who just had a baby.  (that friend was in our wedding party so it's still meaningful :)  Baby was in the belly at the wedding.

My plans for the next few weeks?  I plan to go see two movies at one of our local international and foreign movies cinema. I'd like to go see The Impossible and also Amour
